Our story

We started in 1995 with a simple question: what does love look like when it is not only romance? Each quarter we write about love in all its forms, between partners, parents and children, friends, neighbours, and the people we have lost.

Every issue is built around one theme. Our writers, photographers and illustrators come from many countries and many faiths and none, and we print the work that moves us most, whether it is a long essay, a short story, a portrait or a letter.

We have grown from a single printed page of letters into a quarterly magazine with a readership around the world, and we still read every letter that comes in.
